It’s our last week of the 31 Days of Decluttering challenge! I hope you loved and took advantage of yesterday’s day of rest because it’s the last one we’ll be taking during this challenge.
Today we’ll be decluttering our entryways. I actually worked on my entryways (by our front door and garage) earlier this year when we started the Declutterathon (which we’ll be restarting next week!).
Those were tasks I couldn’t have completed in 15-30 minutes so if you’re feeling panicked or overwhelmed by everything decluttering your entryway would require, please don’t worry. Just do what you can today. If your space isn’t finished, that’s okay. Whether you spend five minutes or five hours working, your space will be closer to be finished by the end of the day than it was at the beginning. Say it with me, “Progress, not perfection!” 😉
Tips for decluttering your entryway:
- Remove everything from the space and wipe clean.
- Sort items into categories and remove everything that doesn’t belong in the entryway. We keep jackets, shoes, hats, scarves, and gloves in the closet by our garage. We also currently have light bulbs and batteries in there, but I’d like to rehome those to a new location… I’m just not sure where right now. A good rule of thumb is if you don’t need it in the entryway it shouldn’t be there.
- Return only the necessary items to your entryway in an organized way. If you need some ideas of inspiration, check out my Entryway Storage Solutions post. It has ideas for all kinds of entryways (even non-existent ones!).
Is there anything crazy in your entryway? I had some crazy things in my when I decluttered it earlier this year. (You can see those pictures here.)
