Transform Your Space with One Question

You want a clean and organized home so you ask yourself what you want to get rid of, but you have a hard time parting with anything. The more you try to get rid of things the harder it seems to get. Why?!

Well, I think it all starts with what we say to ourselves, and many of us are asking ourselves the wrong question.

How It Starts

1

What Do I Want to Keep?

For people with pack-rat or hoarding tendencies, it can be hard to let things go. What if we change the question from, “What do I want to get rid of?” to "What do I want to keep?"

2

Every time I held up an item and asked, “Do you want to get rid of this?” one (or more!) of my kids would freak out and say they couldn’t possibly part with it.

Stop and Question it

If I’m feeling twinges of guilt about getting rid of something that’s still in good shape, never used, or was expensive I simply ask myself 5 questions.
