Hey there! I’m Emily, the girl behind the blog, and I couldn’t be happier that you’re here!
As the founder of a blog called Happy Organized Life, I’d love to pretend I have it all together, and our house is always picture perfect, but that would be a lie.
The truth is I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed by clutter and chaos… to apologize for the state of your home and dread the idea of unexpected visitors… to feel like you’re drowning in daily tasks, and long for a simplified life focused on what truly matters.
In a world of Pinterest-perfect homes, I know there are a lot of people like me out there who are just trying to keep it all together, which is why I started Happy Organized Life. I wanted to share my journey (the good, bad, and embarrassingly cluttered) with you in hopes of keeping myself accountable as I make progress around my home and to show others who struggle with the same issues that they’re not alone.
A little about me:
My husband and I have been married for almost fifteen years, and I’ve spent most of the time since either pregnant or nursing babies. I’d love to say I’m the better between the two of us at handling household responsibilities, but the truth is my husband deserves that title. I frequently find him vacuuming, mopping the kitchen floor, or attempting to tackle our never-ending laundry pile.
We live in the Midwest with our seven children (5 boys and 2 girls), and we homeschool so our house is pretty much always loud with a lot going on, but we wouldn’t want it any other way.
I’ll be honest, trying to organize and declutter with seven kids in the house isn’t always (or ever) easy. They all love to keep all the things, no matter how broken or unused, so black trash bags are one of my secret decluttering weapons. They’ve become a necessity for smuggling items out of the house.
This year is bringing a very new and exciting addition to my blog… I’m starting a decluttering and organizing YouTube channel called (can you guess?) Happy Organized Life! This has been on my “want to do” list for years, but I’ve been petrified of being in front of the camera. It’s so much easier and more comfortable to hide behind a computer screen and pretend my house isn’t really that messy and the pictures I share of myself aren’t extremely outdated! (Ahh! The clutter and baby weight battles are REAL!) As nervous as I am to take this leap, I’m also really looking forward to it. It’ll be fun to have a new creative outlet and challenge to explore.
Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you find some inspiration and encouragement here, and now that you’ve gotten to know me a bit, I’d love to connect on social media and get to know you too. Be sure to say “hi” on Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook. Talk to you soon!
