These playroom organizing and decorating ideas really put the FUN in functional! Okay, that was totally cheesy, but I think you’ll agree by the end!
Sometimes I feel like I’m in a neverending battle with the toys in our home.
I’ve organized our playroom more times than any other space, and it still seems to be a complete mess on most days. I’m also convinced that they’re multiplying when our backs are turned because there’s no way we’ve actually allowed our kids to accumulate that many toys, right?
These beautiful playrooms have inspired me to give organizing our playroom another shot, but this time with systems that will work for our family so hopefully (fingers crossed!) this will be the last major overhaul the space will need.[/tps_header]
I love how colorful this playroom is while keeping everything kid friendly and accessible. It’s kind of hard to see in this picture, but those bins have pictures on the front so pre-readers can still participate in helping to keep the room clean. {I Heart Organizing}
I love how this room has the art on display. Kids love showing off their creations, and this cute clothespin display can definitely hold more than the fridge. This post also inspired me to buy one of those awesome crayon towers. Prettiest crayon holder ever! {Design Improvised}
I love the idea of using tall cylinders for holding play doh supplies. Clear containers are also a favorite of mine for kids storage because their items are usually made in such fun and bright colors. {I Heart Naptime}
Too many doors are being neglected! This over the door storage idea is a great way to organize items. Toys and art supplies that can be used without adult supervision can be stored at the bottom while the messier, less safe, or small items can be stored up top. {Sunlit Spaces}
Labels, labels, and more labels! This picture makes me very happy. I love that the containers coordinate, fit together nicely, and everything is labeled so it can be returned to its proper home. {Small Potatoes}
I adore these labels from I Heart Organizing. They’re colorful, easy to read, and really add a beautiful touch to otherwise simple storage containers. {I Heart Organizing}
These big trucks are the bane of my existence! My son LOVES trucks, but they’re all so huge that storing them can be difficult. I love this idea of hanging them on a peg board. {Apartment Therapy}
This car storage is a beautiful way to add some color to your room while making it easy for the kiddos to put their stuff away. {A Lo and Behold Life}
This color coded lego storage is beautiful and functional, but this post shares so much more too. It’s 12 Fail Proof Steps to Playroom Perfection {I Heart Organizing (again!) and Modern Parents, Messy Kids}
I’ve had this pinned for years, but I wasn’t sure where we’d be able to do it in our home. Now that we’re finally creating a homeschool room, I’ve found the perfect wall, and I’m dying to get it done! {Rate my Space}
Attaching baskets to the wall is a great way to keep clutter off the floor while keeping toys available to little hands. {Homedit}
Use wasted space! This is an extreme (and genuis!) example of repurposing wasted space, but wasted space could also be something as simple as the back of a door or an awkward corner. Thinking outside the box is a great way to make the most of your home while giving it its own unique feel. {Just Imagine}
Play clothes are quite popular in our home. I think my daughter has just about every princess dress possible so I’m anxious to make a cute little dressing area for her that’s similar to this one. {Craftiness is Not Optional}
Remember what I said about trucks. Forget that. Legos are the bane of my existence! Every trip down to our basement playroom seems to end with me hobbling to flat ground for safety. Our current lego storage situation isn’t working.
This table is a fantastic idea! I know my son would love being able to work on a table as opposed to the floor, and it would make clean up a breeze. It looks like I need to get to Ikea asap. {That Crafty Juls}
While we’re organizing Legos, let’s create a cute space for the minifigures too. {Jedi Craft Girl}
We love books in our home, but I’ve realized (after countless battles) that bookshelves aren’t necessarily the easiest way for kids to keep their favorite books organized. Ours usually end up in a big pile on the floor because the kids get frustrated trying to keep them lined up.
We just installed shelves exactly like these in our basement last night, and I’m hopeful that the books will now stay better organized. (Pictures soon to come!) 🙂 {Apartment Therapy}
Aren’t those amazing?! If you enjoyed this post, you can find more storage ideas in my organization gallery.

What have you used to make the car storage?
Emily
Hi Jackie, Unfortunately, I’m not the creative mind behind that great project. If you click on the words below the picture it’ll take you to the project. 🙂
Pam
Wonderful, practical ideas here.
Vineta @ The Handyman's Daughter
So many fabulous ideas! I like the idea of the organizer behind the door for art supplies. Ours seem to be spread all over the house!
Emily
Isn’t that a great idea! I need to do that in my home too. It would make it so much easier to find stuff.
Emily
So many great ideas here. Thanks for linking up with Merry Monday this week!
