One of my favorite blogs is Memories on Clover Lane through which author Sarah shares her experiences as a mother of 6. She’s passionate about living an organized, uncluttered lifestyle, and she’s inspired me to follow in her footsteps. I’ve decided to get rid of 40 Bags of Stuff in 40 Days. It sounds kind of overwhelming, doesn’t it? Do we really have enough junk to get rid of that we can fill 40 bags? Sadly, we could probably double or triple that number and never miss a thing, but I’m going to start with 40. At this point, that sounds overwhelming enough.
Sarah shared this quote, which really resonated with me,
“You say, ‘If I had a little more, I should be very satisfied.’
You make a mistake.
I finally realized (after reading some of these posts on Sarah’s blog) that we just have too much stuff. Accumulating is fun, but it’s adding to an unorganized life that I do not want.
Let me be clear, we aren’t hoarders or anything, but mama likes kitchen gadgets and craft stuff, the kids like toys, and little seems to have a permanent home in this new house. I’m looking at this 40 Bags in 40 Days project as the first step in creating a more balanced, organized, less stressful life where I won’t end up with duplicate purchases or pulling my hair out looking for things because I’ll always know exactly what I have and where to find it.
