DIY Pen Organizer Toothpaste Hack

As a family of seven, we can produce a lot of trash, and I have to admit that I feel a little guilty every time we wheel our trash can down to the curb. Lately, I've really been focusing on decluttering and how our family can live more intentionally, and it got me thinking about how we can reduce our waste.

In honor of April being Earth month, I started thinking of creative ways to upcycle things that we would usually throw away. Today, I'm excited to partner with Tom's of Maine to share my very first upcycling project, a diy pen organizer!

My daughter is an artist at heart. She's constantly drawing pictures and making her own books, but we haven't had a great way to organize her craft supplies. I was gathering trash from the kids' bathrooms last week when I realized we were throwing away a lot of toothpaste containers, and the idea struck me… why not try to create a cute organizer for her room!

Materials

• 8 empty and clean Tom's of Maine toothpaste containers
• paper cutter or scissors
• glue gun

Directions

1: Cut the top and bottom of the toothpaste containers off and clean. I used a little dish soap at my sink, and they were clean in no time.

2: Once all the tubes are clean and dry, cut them all to the same length. Our tubes were approximately three and a half inches tall, but you could even make them shorter if you want to organize crayons.

3: Place a strip of hot glue along the edge of the container and place against another container.

4: Repeat step 3 until all tubes are connected

5: Cut the 8th container open so it is a flat rectangle and cut out a circle to attach to the bottom of the organizer. Glue the circle to the bottom of the organizer, and you're done!

Now my daughter has a convenient upcycled organizer perfect for all of her craft supplies!
